To end 2011 with a bang, the IGA-Kendo Club and the UP Kendo Club will be holding their Christmas Shiai (or competition) this Saturday, December 17, 2011, from 1pm to 6pm. Venue will be in the College of Human Kinetics Gymnasium of the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.
Competitions will start around 2pm with the Kihon-Nobu Class facing off against each other. They are divided into the Red and White Teams:
Red Team – Dave Acuña, Ferdinand Andres, Kevin Enriquez, Lea Guerrero, Lea Jane Jonson, Miriam Mohaida Lalwani, John Karlo Agon, Vonn Alfabeto, Sami Al-Mualem, Ejay Angeles, Uziel Calica
White Team – Gerard Lumain, Nathaniel Malit, Jay Manlapaz, Stephanie Shayne Sor, Ivan Verona, Xavier Tanchico, Ivan Isada, Emmanuel Maguan, Jiggy Matias, Ralph Pobre, Nathaniel Mercado
This will be immediately followed by the Bogu Class matches. They are divided into six 5-man teams, with one A-Class member serving as Team Captain:
Team Bascos – Neil Bascos (Team Captain), Dardsie Abriol-Santos, Gama Cabria, Ain Cabonce, Anthon Cayaco
Team Duminy – Alain Duminy (Team Captain), Gelo Manuel, Alvin Perez, Vince Hernandez, Leo Montalvo
Team Estanilla-Inting (aka The ManSlayers) – Loida Estanilla-Inting (Team Captain), Ice Empeno, Rikki Reyes, Len Santiago, Maxine Labrador
Team Inting (aka Inting’s Angels) – Kristopher Inting (Team Captain), Konishi Yui, Julia Macaranas, Erika Simbulan, Alexis Espina
Team Matsumoto – Matsumoto Takeshi (Team Captain), Max Gana, Inoue Yuta, Wilbert Montalbo, Danika Velasco
Team Nakagane – Nakagane Ryosuke (Team Captain), Erica Abriol-Santos, Fort Liu, Nix Lopez, Jomar Romero
The teams will be divided into two groups and will go through a single round robin elimination. The 3rd place in each group will face each other in a final match, then the 2nd place in each group, and finally the 1st place in each group will face off in a championship match.
